The Indian Ridge Trail System is connected to the Pocahontas Trail System & the Pinnacle Creek Trail System. The trailhead is located in Ashland, WV and has a two acre parking lot with restrooms.

The trail offers a nice mix of trails for any skill level and is one of the many trail systems that offers impressive overlooks. The largest camp ground on the Hatfield McCoy Trail System, the Ashland ATV Resort, is located along the Indian Ridge Trail system and would be a great base camp from your riding adventure.

The Little Coal Trail System is known to be the best trail system for those who are new to riding or just want to take in the scenery on tame trails. The Little Coal Trail System has the largest amount green or easy level trails and is 100% open to SxS drivers.

If you are interested in riding in the heart of the legendary Hatfield & McCoy feuding area, the Buffalo Mountain Trail System may be your ticket. This trail system has three community connectors in the towns of Williamson, Delbarton, and Matewan all offering fuel, restaurants, and lodging.

The Bear Hallow Trail system attracts both scenic riders and off-road enthusiasts looking for a challenge. The trails consists of 9% green trails (easiest), 45% blue trails (more difficult), 31% black diamond trails (most difficult), and 6% red/black diamond (most difficult), and 9% orange trails (single track only).

The Rockhouse Trail system offers the largest amount of trail mileage of any single Hatfield-McCoy Trail System. Located between the towns of Gilbert, WV & Man, WV. The trail. This trail system plays host to the Hatfield McCoy Trail Fest that takes place each year in October. The event that attracts hundreds of riders across the country to enjoy many events including live music, mud racing, drag racing, poker run and more.

The cost to ride on the Hatfield McCoy Trail System is $26.50 for West Virginia residents and $50.00 for non-residents. A trail permit is required for each individual rider and passenger. Each trail permit is good until December 31st of each year. The permit allows you legal access to ride on more than 600 miles of private land that make up the eight trail systems. The permit comes in the form of a sticker that must be worn on the side of the riders helmet at all times while on the trails. You can purchase trail permits online by visiting trailsheaven.com, at one of the staffed trailheads, or at one of the 50 authorized retail locations in the southern West Virginia area.

We have had the opportunity to ride at the Hatfield McCoy Trail system several times with Kawasaki and on our own personal adventures. It is truly amazing how many trails there are! The trails can be both challenging and extremely scenic. A great time of the year to visit this what seems like endless trail system is during the Fall. The many colors of the changing leaves give this east coast trail riding area even more beauty. Many of the trails run right along the side of the wooded Application Mountains giving visitors many opportunities for breathtaking over looks of the small towns in the valleys below.

The Hatfield McCoy Trail System was created to generate economic development through tourism by use of formally coal mining areas. Made up from mostly privately owned land, the state of West Virginia works with the landowners to maintain and operate the trail system.
