As we got ready to throw a leg over these machines,
we were joined by Yamaha's Dustin Nelson and
Josh Row, who would be accompanying us on our
ride, which only added to the fun and excitement.

Yamaha Raptor 700R Special Edition |
|
As far as performance goes, both the YFZ450R
SE and the Raptor 700R SE are are very capable
dune machines but each has their own distinctive
traits. First off, we got to check out the Raptor
700R, and we have to say that in previous test
rides, we were very impressed with this quad.
The upgrades that Yamaha has done to the Raptor
700R over the past couple of years has really
made a difference and made this one of our favorite
quads for all-around ride-ability.

Yamaha
Pro ATV Racer, Josh Row, launches the
Yamaha Raptor 700R SE with ease at Glamis |
The bottom end torque of the Raptor is one of
our favorite things about this machine. It had
plenty of power to get up the softest and steepest
sand dunes with ease and felt incredibly comfortable
while doing it. We felt that we could ride this
quad all day long and not feel any fatigue. Although
the Raptor 700R feels like a Cadillac out on the
sand, it also performs well in more aggressive
riding situations and we must say that this bird
flies very well for being a heavier machine, as
Josh Row found out when he took flight. Row was
hitting jumps that were as big as what he takes
on his race quad, thinking he might bottom out,
but the Raptor suspension took it all in stride,
which really impressed Row.
