#44
Chad Wienen wheelied his KFX450R to the
checkered flag to claim his 1st Moto win
of the season |
Chad Wienen was looking strong as ever in moto one,
taking an early lead over Joe Byrd and the rest
of the pack in lap one. “Moto one went really
good for me. I got around Byrd and then just kind
of rode my own race and that’s really what
I needed to do,” stated Wienen, who held his
lead all the way to the finish line despite pressure
from Dustin Wimmer.
In moto two, Wienen had some issues coming off
the line and was almost in the back of the pack
going into the first turn, but the number 44 Kawasaki
wasted no time in working his way to the front.
Making several passes in the first couple of turns,
Wienen was soon in third place and pressuring
teammate Josh Creamer for the number two position.
Wienen made his move in lap seven, taking over
second place, but his effort s were soon thwarted
when he became caught up in huge battle with Dustin
Wimmer and Joe Byrd.

Creek's Moto 2 proved to be one of the most
exciting Moto of the season with a five
way battle for the lead lasted for nearly
half the race with Wienen & Wimmer working
their way through the pack to chase after
Joe Byrd out front, but in the end, Wienen
finished 3rd, which was enough for 2nd Overall.
With back to back Podium finishes for Wienen,
he is now 4th in points with 114 points |
Some of the best racing action of the season
took place in moto two as the three racers jockeyed
for position with Wimmer coming out on top. Although
first place eluded him, Wienen still held off
Joe Byrd to take second, putting him in the number
two spot overall and bumping him up to 4th place
in the points race. However, he is still at a
70 point deficit for the championship. “I
really want to get and overall win next round.
I’m hungry for it and I really need it to
come up in points. I’m hoping for the win
next round since I’ll have some hometown
support,” stated Wienen ambitiously.
After round three, Joe Byrd had stated he planned
to make a race out of this competition and he
held true to his word as he flew off the line,
grabbing the holeshot in moto one, but fell back
to second as Chad Wienen powered through shortly
into the first lap. Joe was keeping pace with
Wienen until Suzuki’s Dustin Wimmer began
pressuring for the pass. Unfortunately, Byrd was
having some suspension issues, which hampered
his efforts in holding off Wimmer. Byrd fell back
to third, but maintained a close distance between
him and second place all the way to the finish
line.
