The
first couple of laps, Joe Byrd's Honda had
a trailing smoke cloud, which had many wondering
if he would finish, but luckily the cause,
a loose oil line, was fixed before the start
of the race & the smoke was from the
oil burning off |
Just as the thirty second board was out for the
start of the second moto, Byrd noticed that his
oil line had come loose and his crew made a mad
dash to fix the problem before the gate dropped.
“Luckily, the issue was fixed just in time,”
stated Byrd, who went on to grab the holeshot. Byrd
held the lead for half of the race before Chad Wienen
caught up to him and began to apply the pressure.
While Byrd was busy holding off Wienen, Dustin Wimmer
made his move, and Byrd dropped back to second,
which gave him a third overall for the day. Byrd
is now six points behind Wimmer, but is determined
to take the win at round five. “Sunset Ridge
is a tighter and more technical and I like that
kind of track,” said Byrd enthusiastically.
John Natalie was having a good day as well. The
number 13 Can-Am Warnert racer had decent starts
in both motos and was able to gain positions to
finish in fourth in both motos for a fourth place
overall despite a moto two spin out that sent
him back a few spots. “I just did my best
and kept my head down. I caught up to Creamer
and passed him and I was gaining ground on Wienen,
but I couldn’t catch up before the end of
the race,” said Natalie who is hoping for
a podium finish at Sunset Ridge.

Warnert
Racing's John Natalie put together two good
motos to earn a season best 4th Overall
finish & he is currently 5th in points

Warnert Racing's Cody Miller does
it again with another 5th Overall finish,
which moves him up to 12th in points with

Can-Am Warnert Racing’s Cody Miller put
on a very impressive performance this weekend
as well. Cody had good starts in both motos and
was able to hold off the competition to take a
5-7 finish, giving him 5th place overall. “I
had a great time out there and things seem to
be getting better with every race. I’m working
hard and I am really trying to make the podium
a couple of times before the end of the season,”
said Miller.
Rookie Pro Clay Holmes ran two solid motos to
finish in 6th overall and give him a boost in
the points race into the number ten position.

Clay Holmes & #55 Doug Gust battled
both motos, with Gust winning the battle
in Moto 1 & Holmes in Moto 2, but in
the end Holmes would claim 6th Overall over
Gust |
Suzuki's
Doug Gust has struggled with starts all
season & has charged his way through
the pack each round to claim a top 10 overall
finish, which has him 8th in points |
Suzuki’s Doug Gust made a hard charge in
the first moto after a bad start had him at 17th
off the gate. The veteran racer kept his focus
and chose good lines to work his way up to sixth
place. In moto two, Gust got off to a better start,
but things did not go according to plan for him.
“I got caught up in the third turn pile
up, so I was almost dead last,” said gust
disappointedly. Gust managed to work up to the
number ten spot before reaching the checkered
flag to take seventh overall.
