AMA ATV Motocross Amateur
Race Report
::Continued::
New for this season is the Pro Sport class, which
is open to both Pro-am and A class racers. Although
he had issues in the Pro-am class, Cam Covil came
on strong in the pro Sport class and took the
lead in lap two and charged his way to victory.
Root River Racing’s Sam Rowe, who had some bad
luck in the Pro-am class after stalling out, came
back strong in the Pro Sport class as well and
charged his way up from sixth to a second place
finish. “I didn’t get a good start but I was able
to get up to second. I had fast lap times and
I was closing in on the leader, but I ran out
of time,” said Rowe.
Dylan Tremellen took the holeshot and held the
lead for the first lap and battled hard. Tremellen
ended his race with a third place finish. “It
was pretty cool to pull the start like that. I
am really excited to be back with the Root River
Team and I am going to do my best to get on the
podium for them,” said Tremellen.
The Women’s class had fierce competition, but
Kaitlin Gibson was ready as she came from a mid-pack
start to take over the lead and the win in the
final turn of the race when Maddison Guyer flipped
over within view of the checkered flag. Unfortunately,
for Guyer, she went from first to sixth place
as it took her nearly a minute to get across the
finish line.
Aubre King grabbed the holeshot and led for two
laps before dropping back for a second place finish,
while Michelle Jenkins came from a sixth place
start and rounded out the top three. Maci Devenport
had a good start in second and ended her day with
a fourth place finish, with Devin Proctor rounding
out the top five.
