Can-Am
/ Epic Racing's Jeremy Lawson sets the fastest
lap time in Pro Qualifying with a 2:03.01
|
Jeremy Lawson wasted no time proving he was on a
mission to make it back to the Podium at High Point,
when he recorded the fastest laptime during timed
qualifiers, but with 28 Pros, twelve would be heading
to the LCQ to battle for the final four spots on
the Pro Gate.
Conditions were dry and a bit dusty by 5PM start
for the LCQ where Steve Runkel lead the field
to checkered flag, which netted him his first
appearance in the Pro main in 2008. Hunter Miller,
Tommy Hagar and John Ragon also all found their
way to the main via the LCQ. Unfortunately several
top pros, Jason Dunkelburger, Cale Downen and
Brock Lyons were not so lucky as none of them
were able to finish in the LCQ.

#90
Hunter Miller made the switch to the Honda
TRX 450R at High Point, and he held the
early lead in the LCQ with #911 Steve Runkel
making the pass to take the win with the
pair advancing to the Pro Main |
Rath
Racing's Polaris mounted #43 Brock Lyons
wasn't able to hang onto the final qualifyinig
spot for the Pro Main with John Ragon making
the pass and claiming his spot on the Pro
starting gate |

Suzuki's Dustin Wmmer grabs the Holeshot
and leads the race from start to finish |
When the gate dropped for Moto One, it was Dustin
Wimmer who grabbed the Holeshot as he has done so
many times this season. Into the first turn Russell
Shumaker, Tommy Hagar, and Can-Am’s John Natalie,
Sage Baker, and Cody Miller were all caught in a
pile up that allowed Josh Creamer and Jeremy Lawson
to take 2nd and 3rd. Joe Byrd, Doug Gust, Chad Wienen
and Keith Little soon followed. As the rider made
their way into the 4th lap, Jeremy Lawson, who won
at High Point last year, saw an opportunity and
passed Creamer to take over 2nd place. Joe Byrd
also managed to get by Creamer, but could not catch
the #16 Can-Am of Lawson. As racers crossed the
finish line, it was Dustin Wimmer in the lead, followed
by Jeremy Lawson, Joe Byrd, Josh Creamer, and Doug
Gust.

Kawasaki's
Josh Creamer maintained a top 5 finish on
his KFX450R ride, which set the stage for
the 2nd Moto and his run for another Podium
finish |
Suzuki's
Chad Wienen finished in the 6th spot despite
being unable to practice as he continues
to nurse shoulder injuries, which has slowed
him down in 2008 |
Other racers did not fair quite as well in moto
one. Russell Shumaker was unable to get going
again after the first turn pile up. John Natalie
pulled off the track with mechanical issues in
lap six and Greg Gee and Tommy Hagar also encountered
problems out on the track, which put an early
end to Moto one for them.
