Best in the Desert BlueWater Challenge UTV Race Report

“This race makes 30 starts and finishes in a row for us and I think 70% of those are podium finishes. Our goal for day one was to finish in the top ten. We started 18th and finished seventh, and for day two, the course was really torn up because of the trucks. It was soft and silty but we finished well and we are third in the points going into the final round and we are pretty happy with that,” said Murray.

Justin Lambert in the # 1918 UTV put together two consistent days of racing and was able to round out the top five in the Pro UTV class and finish sixth overall.

Cory Sappington was looking good early in day one’s races but mechanical issues sent him to the back of the pack. Sappington was able to take a better finish on day two, but his misfortune for day one hampered his finish time and he claimed 10th in his class.

“Day one was a little rough for us. We bent two tie rods and got stuck in a sand wash. I did finish the race, but it wasn’t where I hoped to be. The second day went much better. I did have to start in the back but I changed my driving technique a bit and it worked out for me. I was able to come from the back and finish in fourth,” said Sappington.

The final round of the BITD series will head to Henderson, NV on December 5-7 for the Henderson 250, which is one of the toughest courses on the circuit and will put both drivers and their machines to the test to see who will take the 2014 Championship.
