Parker, AZ (10/14/2014) - Brandon Schueler topped the Pro UTV podium at the 2014 BITD Bluewater Desert Challenge, while Brandon Sims joined him in second and the team of Scott Kiger and Mark Holz in third.

The Bluewater Challenge is unique in the Best in the Desert series as it is a two-day event where racers are lined up just before dawn and they race three laps on a thirty-mile course on both days. The times from both days are then added up and the best combined time takes the win.

For the first day of the race, conditions were typical for the area, being dry with some dust, which were favorable for everyone.

The Best in the Desert BlueWater Challenge is a two day event as racers compete on a 30 mile course completing 3 laps per day. The winner is decided on the best combined time between the two days of racing

The #1919 UTV of Brandon Schueler got out front early and kept a strong lead. “We got out front and had nice clean air. The course was still in really good shape and we were able to keep our lead from start to finish,” said Schueler.

For the second day, the course was pretty chewed up due to the truck classes. The UTV class was lucky and started before the Jeep classes so visibility was not as much of an issue, but the ruts and bumps that developed were incredibly huge and took their toll on many racers. Luckily, Schueler was able to finish well in the number two spot for day two, which when combined with his time from the day before, gave him the win by over two minutes, with a time of 03:27:59.483.

“Day two was definitely tougher than the first day. The bumps and ruts were really squared off and bigger than our tires so it was pretty rough out there. We hung in there and had a good finish. The points are really tight heady to Henderson. It’s a brutal track, but it’s double points so we are hoping to squeeze out a win and maybe a championship,” said Schueler.

Branden Sims, who was piloting the #1913 car, had a good first day and finished in second place.

“The first day the track was awesome, it was like driving down a dirt road. We stayed close and finished well,” said Sims.
