Challenge UTV Race Report

Consistency was the key for Cory Sappington.
Running a Can-Am Turbo Max, Sappington was pleased
with his first podium with the new ride. He said
he just ran his own race and didn’t really see
any other competitors during the second day of
the event.

Can-Am's
Cory Sappington came off the start in the
2nd spot behind S3 Racing's Dustin Jones |
“We finally got the Can-Am dialed in, and it
was super fun,” said Sappington. “We were consistent
for sure. I didn’t know I was second until I got
the finish line. Clean air was a big deal out
there, so I decided I was going to run my own
race today and not try to race the other competitors.
The most important thing was consistency.”
Sappington’s brother, Scott was missing from
the racing action this weekend as he heals up
from an accident outside of racing, so Cory is
looking forward to having his brother back at
the BITD Henderson 250 season finale, and he looking
to finish on top the podium .

ELKA's
Cory Sappington ran a solid race to secure
another 2nd place finish for 2nd overall
on the weekend in his Can-am Maverick Turbo
MAX |
“I’m stoked for Henderson now that we have the
car dialed in,” said Sappington. “We’re going
to do a few things with clutching to a few more
miles per hour and hopefully we can be first on
the box.”
Ben Wilson’s first podium comes on the heels
of a fourth-place finish in the last race. Interestingly,
the privateer racer built his UTV himself.

Off Road Racing's Ben Wilson & Kenny
Green have quickly made a name for themselves
in the BITD series with an impressive 3rd
overall finish at the Bluewater Challenge |
“To be out here racing with the best guys in
the world and finishing third, I’m ecstatic,”
said Wilson. “We built this car ourselves. We
did two short-course races and then set the car
up for desert racing. We tried to pick smooth
lines today. Our car was dialed in before we hit
the start line and we didn’t hit the brakes.”
UTV Inc’s John Angal said the dust was really
a problem, and he couldn’t utilize all of the
power of his Polaris RZR turbo.

Polaris
/ UTV Inc.'s John Angal finished in the
4th spot overall in his Polaris RZR Turbo |
“The dust never really never cleared up,” said
Angal. “Yesterday we started 18th and it was more
of a race against the dust. We couldn’t pass anyone
because we couldn’t see. The Polaris RZR Turbo
ran great. The power is awesome, but we just couldn’t
use it because of the visibility.”
