Parker, AZ (10/12/2015) - Cognito
/ Sparks / ITP’s Justin Lambert came into the BITD
BlueWater Challenge with a point to prove. He did
that and more by winning his second straight Best
in the Desert Series UTV Pro race. Can-Am / ELKA
/ CST’s Cory Sappington finished second overall,
followed by Mayhem’s Ben Wilson. UTV Inc’s Johnny
Angal and Lonestar Racing’s Dan Fisher rounded out
the top five.

The
Cognito Racing's Justin Lambert claimed
his 2nd straight UTV Pro win at the BITD
Blue Water Challenge |
The BITD Blue Water Challenge was run over two
days on a 25-mile loop in Parker, Arizona. The
racers ran three laps each day for a total of
150 miles. With very little breeze and dry conditions,
dust was a more formidable foe than anything and
it certainly took its toll on the field.

Can-Am's
1978 Dustin Jones & 1904 Cory Sappington
claimed the top two finishes on Saturday,
so the pair started up front on Sunday morning
for the final three laps of the Blue Water
Challenge, which started at 6:15AM |
The first victim was Can-Am / S3 Racing’s Dustin
Jones. Jones dominated day one with an impressive
win, but destroyed the front end of his machine
heading down a blind hill and fell out on the
lead on the final lap of the second day of competition,
handing the first spot and the overall win to
Lambert.

S3
Racing's Dustin Jones held the lead till
the final lap on Sunday |
“I definitely wanted to come out here and prove
that the Vegas to Reno win wasn’t a fluke,” said
Lambert. “We started 21st on day one and the dust
was horrendous. On the third lap, we had cleaner
air and that was nice. On day two, we started
on the second row, but the dust was still pretty
bad. There just wasn’t any breeze, so the silt
just sat in the air. I had to eat the dust of
the two people that started ahead of me. I didn’t
really have clear air until the last lap.”

ITP
/ Sparks' Justin Lambert started on the
2nd row Sunday after finishing in the 3rd
spot Saturday |
Sitting second in points, Lambert is poised to
win the championship at the final round in Henderson
250 in December after one race is dropped.
|
Cognito's
Justin Lambert took over the lead in the
final lap & he gapped the competition
to secure his 2nd straight BITD win |
“Going into Henderson, we’re still second in
points, but as long as we can finish in top ten
at Henderson, after the drop, then we should be
golden for a championship,” explained Lambert.
“This is our third year into desert racing and
we definitely want to get a championship under
our belt.”
