Taylorville, IL - American Honda’s
Harold Goodman sealed the deal on the Pro Lites
Championship at round five of the 2009 Extreme DirtTrack
Series, but an upset in the Pro class allowed Michael
Coburn to claim the win and take over the points
lead, which will carry the Pro championship battle
to the final round.

Round
5 of the Extreme Dirt Track Series was
at South Fork Dirt Rider Club, which is
located less than 2 hours from the city
of St. Louis, MO with the famous Gateway
Arch
|
For round five, the EDT series traveled to South
Fork, which is the first time since 2006, where
a completely new track greeted racers. The track
featured plenty of turns, tabletops and option
lanes to keep things interesting for racers and
spectators alike.

#417 Kirby
Cooke grabbed the Pro ATV Holeshot with
Michael Coburn, Harold Goodman, and Chuckie
Creech hot on his heals heading into turn
one
|
In the Pro main event, points leader Harold Goodman
was the favored racer to take the holeshot and win,
but Goodman was pinched out in the start, which
allowed Kirby Cooke to grab the holeshot and the
lead.

Houser
Racing's Harold Goodman spun out heading
into the split lane, which sent him to
the back of the pack early in the 1st
lap

Roberts
Racing's Michael Coburn made the pass on
Cooke halfway through lap one to take over
the lead and checkout on the field |
Cooke’s lead would not last long as Michael
Coburn, who has been trailing Goodman all season
in points made his way up from a third place start
and was soon challenging Cooke for the lead. Within
only a few turns, Coburn took advantage of one
of the option lanes and got around Cooke and began
to check out. Coburn was steadily increasing his
lead, but in the 7th lap, everything came to a
halt when Ryon Partee and Kirby Cooke connected
and wrecked causing the race to be red flagged.
Cooke was knocked unconscious while Partee suffered
a broken sway bar.

#417 Kirby
Cooke was knocked out cold for several
minutes while #39 Ryon Partee struggled
to get up after a bad wreck, which forced
a red flag to clear the track
