Extreme Dirt Track Racing Pro Report
::Continued::

Riley had pressure from the rear for the entire fifteen laps from Creech as the three settled into pace and pushed each other around the course. Riley trailed Ryckman waiting for a mistake on the part of his younger competitor but that never happened until the final moments of the race when Riley was able to slip under and take over the first place position heading into the last lap. After the takeover, Riley stayed clean for the remaining lap and took another checkered flag on the evening.

“I just played it really smart the entire race. I knew Creech was behind me and I know he’s fast on this track and if I were to try to take over Ryckman too early it could of been a bad deal for all three of us if we got tangled up and I’d of rather of had second place than third place so I just played it smart and planned out my move around Ryckman. I only led one lap but it was the most important one and I’m glad it turned out the way it did! We had a ton of fun racing tonight and this was an awesome race to be in,” said Riley.

WISECO / JT Racing / Houser / PEP’s Chuckie Creech came out of the holeshot with a very good starting position behind Brad Riley and immediately set a pace faster than the rest of the pack as the top three began to put an edge on the racers behind them.

Creech tried several times to dive down on the inside of Riley as he and Ryckman came together into the tight turns, but to no avail, leaving Creech sitting in third place for more laps than he had hoped. Creech pulled a trick out of his sleeve on the very last lap however as Ryckman and Riley took a different option lane, Creech chose a secondary route and was able to snag second place from Ryckman right at the finish line by just under half a quad length.

Ryckman Racing / Hoosier Tires / TC Racing Engine’s Garrett Ryckman grabbed a big holeshot during the Pro-Am main at Busco ahead of Riley and Creech who were right on his heels. Ryckman stayed on the throttle and never once looked back or gave any sign of backing down for the multi-time Pro-Am Unlimited champion Brad Riley. Ryckman held his own up front as the crowd cheered him on around the twisty course.

Ryckman came under heavy pressure on the last lap however and slipped back to second place but continued to trail Riley for the remaining lap. Into the last corner behind Riley was where Ryckman made one last effort to hold down the spot but it was Creech who snuck up from behind and took over the spot from Ryckman at the very last moment. Regardless, Ryckman was very happy to be back on the podium, after getting on the box as well at the last round in Sturgis, SD.
