2014 AMA Racing ATV Extreme Dirt Track Nationals Round #6 - Busco Beach, NC Busco Beach August 23, 2014

Pro-Am Unlimited was headed to the line next at Busco Beach as told by the roar of the big more machines lining up the staging area. This class also featured fifteen racers, the most of any of the Pro classes for the weekend.

Wolff Motorsports / Custom Axis Suspension / Walsh Race Craft’s Nathan Wolff got off to an awesome holeshot and was into first place within the first few turns, however, a first turn pileup and then fellow Wolff Motorsports teammate Jared Hulliung’s second turn crash sent the pack back to the line for a full restart.

Upon the restart Wolff came off the line with another good start behind Michael Houghton who took the holeshot and Kris Bures who was in second.

Wolff got around Bures as they came across the finish line area and began to apply pressure to Houghton. Halfway through the race something broke on Houghton’s quad, which allowed Wolff to really get by him in a hurry and into first place. Wolff kept on the gas for the remaining laps of the fifteen-lap race and came away with a big win.

“We had two good starts there and it’s never good to see a teammate crash like that or have a good friend break down while having a good race but that’s racing I guess and it turned out good for me. I got off to a great start and just kept up the pace and stayed smooth the entire time. My Custom Axis shocks and Walsh setup works awesome together and soaked up anything the track had to throw at me,” said Wolff.

Big Dawg Racing / Moose Racing / Advance Carbs / 7S Design’s Aaron Medlin came out of the holeshot in fourth place and battled with Chepkauskas for the spot heading into the first time. Medlin pursued Kris Bures and kept up the pace and eventually caught up to Michael Houghton as well who was having mechanical issues. Medlin stayed on the throttle and kept running clean lines and came out with a second place for the Pro-Am unlimited main event, one of his best finishes of his career.

AE3 Motorsports / Roberts Racing / Rath Racing’s Andrew Evanyke snagged the first Unlimited main holeshot and then was sent back after the restart to try it again. Unfortunately he didn’t get the holeshot the second time around and came out in seventh place but that didn’t stop him from putting his head down for the fifteen lapper.

Evanyke consistently chose the outside option lane that no one else was taking and broke-in a groove for himself and was able to get around Chepkauskas and then Tiffer  to break into the top five. He also was able to slip by Houghton along the way and was actually able to pull out a third spot on the podium! Evanyke has been a fan of this track for a long time and he showed his speed this weekend going home with a third place podium finish in the Unlimited class.

The next two rounds, which are the final rounds of the season, will be held at the Love-Hatbox Sports Complex is Muskogee, OK. The Chamber of Commerce for Muskogee is very involved in this event and will be holding many events and activities for the weekend which actually kicks off with practice on Thursday September 4th with racing to follow on September 5th and 6th which covers the double-header racing action.
