The 2010 GNCC series started off with a bang as everyone looked forward to the
heated battles that were sure to attack the Amateur
classes.
The morning racers did not disappoint and it
wasn't long before we could see some clearly
define wars developing in several classes as
the rounds were set in the record book.

Yamaha's
Traci Cecco is in the fight of her career
as she now has competition coming at
her from all sides, and her win at Snowshoe
was exactly what she needed in her chase
for the championship
|
The Women's class has remained one of the most closely watched races for many
years and this year would be no different, except
that it would be a three way battle instead
of the top two women fighting it out!.
Traci Cecco was unseated as the class champion
in 2009 and she eagerly wanted to get back the
title.
The Ballance racing team and Cecco have put
in many hours trying to get Traci's Yamaha running
on a set up that would allow her every advantage
on the track and she would need it as a hard
charging Angel Atwell had her sights set on
retaining her crown for the 2010 season. Both
of these favored riders would take a back seat
at the opening round as Lexie Coulter grabbed
her first win.

GBC's Kristen Atwell isn't in anyone's
shadow these days as she battles for the
Women's class championship with 3 wins |
KTM's
Angel Atwell is fending
off some serious competition this year
as she defends her crown |
|
For
the first time in many years, we face
a three way points battle in the Women's
class with Angel Atwell, Traci Cecco
& Kristen Atwell all within striking
distance of the championship, so it
will come down to the wire to determine
the 2010 Women's Class Champion
|
The battle indeed would get heated over the next
four rounds as Cecco and Angel swapped positions
for wins. At round six, Kristen Atwell would mount
a 3 race winning spree that catapulted her in
points and we were now looking at a three way
battle for the points lead.
Kristen had been putting in solid races from
the start and was now poised to be a front runner
for the championship herself! After nine rounds
of competition, we are in a virtual deadlock
for the points chase as only three points separate
the top three racers. The second half of the
season will be even more intense as we head
towards the season finale where many feel the
battle will ultimately be decided.

Can-Am's
Bryan Buckhannon claimed the Overall
Win at Mountain Ridge & wrapped
up the 4x4 Open Championship
|
In 4x4 Open, Bryan Buckhannon has once again wrapped
up the class championship as he capped another
incredible season. Battling back in 2009 from
a severe injury to claim the top spot, Buckhannon
was unsure of his chances in 2010. At one point,
it was even a guess as to Buckhannon having the
ability to make all the rounds needed to campaign
for the championship, however a boost from Warnert
racing would seat Buckhannon on a secure ride
allowing him to defend his crown.
