of the race on the Saturday |
Steel Creek was the hosting facility for round
number three of the 2011 GNCC series. Rain was
in the forecast, but racers caught a break as
dry conditions prevailed. The track was in good
shape with very little dust and no mud. Towards
the end of the day it got a little rough out there,
but that didn’t seem to matter to Adam McGill
as he charged off the starting line.

lead |
Can-Am/Warnert Racing’s Adam McGill took
his first win since Snowshoe in 2008 and he
was nothing less than overjoyed to be on top
of the podium. “I am so happy to take
that win. It’s been a long time coming
and I finally did it. I have to thank everyone
at Can-Am and Warnert Racing who have helped
me get to this point!” said McGill.
McGill took the early lead and elected not
to pit in the first lap like everyone else allowing
him to get a slight edge on the competition
and still hold down the number one spot into
lap two. McGill looked fast and smooth as he
charged his way forward. McGill did fall back
to third, however, when he finally stopped in
the pits.

In the final lap, McGill put the hammer down
and after a heated battle, made his way past
teammate Chris Bithell, who had taken the lead,
and held the number one spot all the way to
the checkered flag, taking his first win of
the season. McGill’s win also bumped him
up in points as he now has 69 points, putting
him in third in the pro points chase. “I
am going to keep pushing hard and do my best
to get another win next round,” stated
McGill.
Can-Am/Warnert Racing’s Chris Bithell
was also in the hunt for the podium. Bithell
got off to a mid-pack start but quickly worked
his way through traffic and soon caught up to
the front runners. It was a three way battle
for the lead between Bithell, Chris Borich and
Adam McGill, with Taylor Kiser coming into the
mix as well. Bithell fought hard and took the
lead for two laps, but fell back to second in
the final lap.

Can-Am's #4 Chris Bithell charged his
way from a mid-pack start to take over
the lead by lap three, but in the final
lap, Borich took over the lead briefly
and Bithell lost his rear brakes, so he
allowed McGill to make the pass as well.
Bithell found himself battling with Taylor
Kiser to the checkered flag with Bithell
taking the 2nd Spot for his third straight
podium finish for 2011 |
Bithell charged hard and maintained his position
to take second overall for the afternoon classes.
Bithell’s incredible consistency has him
in a solid second in points with 71 points,
putting him just five points behind leader Chris
Borich. “I’m glad to be on the podium
again. I want to stay consistent and also take
another win and maybe a championship,”
said Bithell.
