The
Mountain Ridge GNCC is located at a riding
park / windmill farm in Shanksville, PA
& racers were treated to a great weekend
for racing with partly cloudy skies |
Shanksville, PA (9/24/2011)
- Brian Wolf surprised everyone at round number
ten of the 2011 GNCC series as he grabbed the
Pro XC1 ATV win with the Can-Am / Warnert Racing
team of Adam McGill and Chris Bithell joining
him on the podium in second and third. Yamaha
/ Ballance Racing’s Walker Fowler wrapped
up the Pro-Am XC2 ATV Championship with his tenth
straight win of the 2011 GNCC season.
Although rain fell in the days prior to the
race, track conditions at Mountain Ridge GNCC
were ideal, with great weather and a challenging
track. Parts of the course overlook the Flight
93 National Memorial that was dedicated just
a couple of weeks ago on the tenth anniversary
of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. We at ATVriders.com
would like to take this time to remember the
victims of this attack and their families, and
to thank our troops for defending our country
and persevering our freedom to live out our
dreams in America.

On
September 11, 2001, flight 93 heading
from New Jersey to California crashed
into the hillside in Shanksville, PA with
44 passengers on board, which forever
changed American history, and it is hard
to believe it has been 10 years since
that tragic day. With the crash site only
a few miles from the Mountain Ridge GNCC
race, many racers visited the memorial,
which is still under construction

There were plenty of rocks and mud holes, for
this race but there were also some fast sections
to the course that were ideal for passing. The
tough course did not deter racers and there
was plenty of excitement as the Pro ATV class
left the line.

Kenda's
#16 Jarrod McClure grabbed the Pro XC1
ATV Holeshot followed by KTM's Bryan Cook
& Yamaha's Taylor Kiser, but by turn
three, Kiser had taken over the lead |
National Guard’s Jarrod McClure grabbed
the holeshot, but his lead would not last as
a freight train of racers, including Adam McGill,
Brian Wolf, Chris Borich, Taylor Kiser and Chris
Bithell, charged past McClure after a flat tire
caused him to slow down.

Maxxis'
#341 Brian Wolf settled into the 2nd spot
for the first couple of laps shadowing
racer leader, #3 Adam McGill, but in the
third lap, Wolf was able to take over
the lead as he swapped the lead back and
forth with McGill for the rest of the
race |
Brain Wolf was in eighth off the start and
followed McGill into the woods and soon made
his way into second and was looking solid and
consistent. “It was really rocky out there
and I just put the hammer down,” said
Wolf.
