In the XC2 pro-am class, Patrick McGuire
looked amazing as he led from start to finish
after grabbing the holeshot, taking his first
win of the season. Braden Henthorn came from
a mid-pack start and charged his way through
traffic to claim the second spot on the pro-am
podium and Eric Hoyland ran a consistent race
as he was in the top five off the start and
ended his day in the number three spot in
his class. Nathan Thomas worked his way into
a fourth place finish, while Matt Hanna rounded
out the top five in the pro-am ranks.

Walsh Race Craft’s Cody Gibson was
on hand getting in some seat time in the Pro-am
class. Gibson, who is admittedly not a cross-country
guy, finished with five laps in the number
14 spot.

In the morning classes, current 4x4 Open
champ, Bryan Buckhannon charged his way to
the top of the podium, taking his class win
and the overall.
Super Senior racer Dave Simmons proved that
age has no limitations as he put the hammer
down and led from start to finish in his class,
taking the win and finishing in second overall
on the morning podium.
Can-Am/UXC Racing’s Cliff Beasley picked
up right where he left off last season, winning
the U2 class and claiming the final spot on
the morning podium aboard the new 2012 Can-Am
Renegade. “It was great to start the
season off on the podium. It was rough out
there so I am glad I was able to finish well,”
said Beasley.

In the Women’s class, Angel Atwell
edged out Traci Cecco for the first win of
the season. The pair battled hard, with Atwell
leading for most of the race, and won her
class by almost six seconds ahead of Cecco.
Atwell would take fourth overall, while Cecco
rounded out the top five overall for the morning
classes.
Kevin Trantham dominated the 4x4 Lites class
from start to finish, taking the class win,
and finishing in sixth overall.
In the 4x4 Senior class, Can-Am’s Forrest
Whorton and Mike Penland went one and two
in their class after battling it out in the
first lap. Penland was first off the start,
but Whorton was able to overtake him in the
second lap and held his lead all the way to
the checkered flag.
Round number two of the 2012 GNCC series
will head to Aonia Pass MX in Washington,
GA in just one week on March 17th, where racers
