 Union, South Carolina

The quads once again were the winners of the weather challenge.
Yes it was dusty in a many places, but at least you weren’t
buried in the mud like the Sunday AM races. With Henry
Turner, the land owner bringing out all of the local who’s
who’s in the community, we were once again treated
like celebrities in Union county, South Carolina. With
almost 225 quads on the line for the afternoon race it
was time to see who made the best of the three week lay
off since the last race at Steele Creek, NC.

Maloney was incredibly able to squeeze his way
past Brandon Sommers, Donald Ockerman, and Kevin
Yoho to grab the ATVriders.com XC2 Holeshot Award | The XC2 Pro-AM saw a change in the holeshot winner
this week with Jeffry Maloney getting the $100 ATVRiders.com
award, but the race results were still the same. Once
again Brandon Sommers managed to get out and run ahead
of the rest of the class for the entire day. He physically
worked his way through much of the XC1 class and with
time adjust ended up 8th overall for the day. Ryan Lane
finished in the second place position and is still trying
to find a good start for the year. After getting off
the line near the back of the pack Ryan worked his way
through the pack to take the number spot as well as
an overall position of 14th for the day. David Crane
was the 3rd place finisher in the XC2 Pro-AM class who
also spent the day playing catch up. David finished
lap one in the 7th spot and put his head down and continued
the charge working up to third on the final lap.
Some other real good racing action took place in the
college A and B classes. In College A (16-21) Spencer
Dickerson took the number one spot a mere two seconds
ahead of Josh Kirkland. Kirkland managed to hold off
Dickerson for the first two laps as the two of them
freight trained together up from 6th and 5th. On the
third lap Dickerson took the lead and managed to be
in front at the crucial finish line. Third place in
the class to Brian Toney. College B (16-21) had much
of the same action that we saw in the A class. Class
winner Devon Jarrett and second place finisher Parker
Jones managed to keep a great race between them as they
worked from 8th and 9th position up to the lead. Jarrett
crossed the line three seconds ahead at the line for
the win. Behind them Andrew Cornell took the third place
just seven seconds ahead of Craig Bowman in the fourth
spot. The top four finishers in this class crossed the
line within thirty one seconds of each other for a great
                          race.

                                4th place in the XC2 Class | #39
Richie Brown must of felt like he was at Baja
with all the dust as he secured his best finish
of the year in 4th place |
