Carlisle, IA - “Absolutely
perfect!” is how series promoter Andy Kyner
described conditions for round three of the IATVHSS
series where Michael Burrows took the win in the
AA class and the afternoon overall, while C 26+
class rider Tony Cooper took the overall win for
the A.M. classes. In the last few weeks, Iowa
has been plagued by severe storms and heavy flooding
that has left its residents displaced and left
much of the state underwater. Luckily those storms
have lessened and the floodwaters have begun to
subside, but the evidence of Mother Nature’s
recent onslaught was still visible at this weekend’s
events. “There was this one section of the
track where you were riding along the top of this
hill side and you could look down into this valley
like area and still see the floodwaters,”
said AA class rider Duane Johnson. “It was
really something to see how extensive all the
flooding really was.”

Dusty Kostman
won the Womens class and took 3rd Overall
in the AM Race

A couple of days prior to Sunday’s races,
rain showers fell throughout the area, but stopped
just in time to leave the 8 mile track in perfect
condition for the weekend’s events. In the
morning classes, it was Dusty Kostman who continued
to dominate in the Women’s class. Dusty
took the Women’s class win and third overall.
Michelle Mickelberry took 2nd and Angela Mickelson
claimed 3rd. In the stock class, Jerry Costello
claimed the win and took 2nd overall. Costello
was followed by Jarrod Sheets in 2nd and Luke
Olberding in 3rd. In the 90cc Production class
Dakota Stevenson claimed another win with Hunter
VanPatten in 2nd and Logan Hazzard in 3rd. In
the 70cc class, Skylar Volkamer claimed another
victory while Brady Kyner finished in 2nd place
and Sinjin Briggs took home 3rd place.

Jerry Costello took
second Overall and dominated the ATV Stock
Class.

Zac Johnson
took 3rd in the AA class as well as Overall
in the afternoon race.

In the afternoon classes, conditions couldn’t
have been more perfect with sunny skies and temperatures
hovering around 80 degrees. As the AA class left
the line it was Zac Johnson, Jason Gudde, Duane
Johnson, Michael Burrows, and Brock Lyons all
in close contention, but Duane soon passed Zac
to take over the lead with Michael Burrows hot
on his heels. In lap two, Michael got around Duane
and the pair checked out and ran tire to tire
for most of the seven lap race. “You couldn’t
ask for a better weekend,” said Burrows.
“I came off the line in about 4th place
and by lap two, I got around Duane, but I didn’t
really get too far ahead of him because he was
always within sight,” Burrows stated.
