Canaan, IN (4/21/2014) - The 2014 AMA MAXC Racing Series kicked off this weekend at Circle W Ranch in Southern Indiana. Cole Richardson finished on top the podium with the first MAXC Pro victory of the season followed by Kevin Cunningham & Taylor Kiser, who rounded out the Pro Podium.
Because of heavy April showers, the AMA Mid America Cross Country Racing Series Season Opener had to be postponed because of intense flooding. However after letting the property dry up a bit, the MAXC crew could not have picked a better date to reschedule the season opener this past weekend as racers experienced near perfect racing conditions and a slight breeze that helped cut down on the dust.

Making his way all the way from Pennsylvania, Cole Richardson joined the stacked thirteen-rider lineup in the AMA MAXC Pro Class to compete for the top spot on the podium. On the final lap, Cole Richardson took over lead after a lapped rider held up Taylor Kiser and he would hold on to the number one spot all the way to the finish.

“I got a decent start and I was getting into a grove but then I got a little bit of arm pump and then I got a front flat tire. I had to pit early and once I pitted I tired to get back in a grove and I got comfortable and starting pushing. In the last lap I got around Cunningham and Kiser and put my head down and tried to make it to the finish without making a mistake,” explained Richardson of his first AMA MAXC win of the season.

“The track was pretty nice. It was rough but fast and it was my type of track. I’ve raced here several times and I have never had any good luck so it feels good to get second here,” stated Kevin Cunningham.
