Rocky Mountain UTV Racing - Round 2 Race Report
::Continued::

Round one expert class winner, Chris Deshon, grabbed the holeshot from the first of the three-row 12-car start, but he started to run out of fuel after three laps, so he had to make a pit stop and handed the lead and eventual victory over to Hughes.

Deshon took the blame for running out of fuel late in the race. “I thought it was full, but it wasn’t completely topped up,” said Deshon. “We led from the start, but on lap three, the car started sputtering for fuel, so we stopped to put fuel in. With two to go, I tried to chase him down, but there just wasn’t enough time. We won’t make that mistake again.”

Deshon isn’t new to racing and won the championship at the Lucas series in 2014, but he is excited to closer to home in the new Rocky Mountain UTV Racing Association series. “This is just easier for us. We don’t have to drive eight hours to Utah every weekend, so racing in this series is very convenient.”

Fisher climbed through the field after starting last, and then nursed his machine home after breaking an axle. “I ended up last at the start,” said Fisher. “Luckily everyone took the step-up well, so we just rolled with it. After one lap, I was able to get past some people. I lost an axle halfway through the race. I pulled into the pits, they jerked the axle out and told me to keep going. All the right hand turns were a little slower than the left hand turns.”

Fisher said he’d definitely be back. “I saw this on Facebook,” said Fisher. “It’s local, so we gave it a shot. We had a lot of fun today.”

Mitch Ray and John Cianci rounded out the top five in the RMURA Expert 100 SxS Class at round two.
