Horse GP WORCS Pro ATV Race Report
::Continued::
“I am very excited about winning,”
said Warnia. “The track was very rough and
I didn’t think I would win, but I did!”

Motoworks
/ Can-Am's Jeremie Warnia took over the
lead after the 1st lap, and held it till
the checkered, but at the end, Fredericks
began to apply the pressure as he closed
the gap with each passing lap, and an exhausted
Jeremie Warnia was congratulated by his
mechanic, Ben & friend Max shortly after
crossing the finish line |
Warnia’s win puts him in second place in
the points race behind teammate Josh Frederick,
who currently holds a distant number one spot
despite his second place finish this round.

Dunlop's
Josh Frederick secured yet another Podium
finish as he extended his Pro points lead |
“The dead engine start is what got me. I started
the bike just fine, but I stalled it when I left
the line and couldn’t get it started back
up quickly enough,” said Frederick, who was
almost at the very back of the pack going into the
first turn. The two time champ was not about to
give up without a fight, so Frederick put his head
down and made his charge for the front. Frederick
worked feverishly and by the midway point of the
20 lap race, he made his move into second place.
The number 1 Can-Am began to gain ground on class
leader Warnia, but Warnia was going at a fast steady
pace and Frederick did not have enough time to overtake
his teammate before he checkered flag was waved.
“I’m happy with second place. Our team
has the top two spots on the podium and that’s
what counts,” said Frederick.

Design's #3 Beau Baron makes his return
to the Podium with the MCR Racing Team |
MCR’s Beau Baron also had trouble with the
dead engine start. Baron came off the line in about
15th place, but like Josh Frederick, had his sights
set on the podium was wasn’t about to give
up until he got there. Baron was consistently hitting
the lagoon jump and gaining ground quickly. “I
didn’t really like the water jump, but it
sure saved a lot of time. In one jump, I was able
to pass three people,” said Baron, who knew
what he had to do in order to make it to the podium.
By lap eleven, Baron had worked up to third place
where he rode solidly all the way to the checkers
to take his second podium finish of the season.
“ Two out of three isn’t too bad,”
said Baron, who is nipping at Warnia’s heels
in third place of the points battle.
Josh Row put on a solid performance to take his
first top five finish of the season. Row, who
was last year’s Pro-am champion, got off
to a good start and rode a smart race with consistent
lap times to take an impressive 4th place.

Rookie #417 Josh Row scored a career best
4th place finish in the Pro Class |
Fox
Racing's #5 Doug eichner finished in 5th
place & is currently 4th in points |
Polaris/Yoshimura’s Doug Eichner got off
to a strong start on his Polaris Outlaw 450. Eichner
was right on Warnia’s heels in second place
for a good portion of the race until lap seven.
“Warnia and I were pretty close and we bumped
and both of us almost went down,” said Eichner,
who fell back to 5th place where he stayed all
the way to the finish line. Eichner currently
sits in fourth in the 2009 pro points race.
Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson was looking good
after getting off to a slow start. Nelson made
a charge to take over second place for two laps
before breaking his chain on the far in the track.
Fortunately, fellow pro racer, Keith Taylor towed
Nelson back to the pits, but he was down several
laps. “My chain broke and got wrapped around
my counter shaft and swingarm. I got towed back
to the pits and had to have the swingarm taken
off to get the chain off,” said Nelson disappointedly.
Although Nelson had a 22nd place finish, he still
holds the number five position in points.

Yamaha's
#94 Dustin Nelson was charging hard till
a snapped chain left him sitting along Lake
Havasu. As he waited for a tow back to the
pits, Nelson watched the passing boats to
occupy his free time |
