Lake Havasu, AZ - Can-Am Motoworks’
Jeremie Warnia came on strong to take his first
ever Pro ATV win at round three of the 2009 WORCS
series while teammate Dillon Zimmerman fought hard
to take home the Pro-am ATV class win on his DS450.

Havasu, Arizona | Round three of the 2009 WORCS series took place
in the popular spring break destination of Lake
Havasu, AZ. Crazy Horse Campground, the hosting
facility, is known for its sandy whooped trails
that run past the scenic shoreline in some areas
of the track, but this year, there was another
                                section that got racers’ attention.

                                  | During
                                      Saturday's Pro Practice, the "Lagoon
Jump" was opened up for the racers
to test the run at the50'+ jump, and around
half the pros took the leap of faith and
fortunately, everyone cleared the gap, but
they were all barely making it with many
rear tires landing on the edge of the water,
and it was far from a smooth landing with
many deciding it wasn't worth the risk during
the race despite saving 7-10 seconds per
lap by clearing the gap over taking the
                                      by-pass.
 | The addition of a 50’ water crossing jump,
dubbed the “lagoon jump”, would shave
as much as 7-10 seconds off of lap times, but
many racers opted to avoid the jump because of
its sandy lipped take off that wore down quickly,
and flat landing. “It was a do or die kind
of jump and if you didn’t make it, your
race was going to be ending early,” stated
Can-Am Motoworks’ Josh Frederick, who decided
to take a bypass section for all except three
passes and had a close call with the jump on his
                                final lap.

                                      Motorsports' Jarrod McClure grabbed the
ATVriders.com Holeshot Award by edging out
                                      Polaris' Doug Eichner |
Since there is no starting gate at the Crazy
Horse facility, the Pro class was treated to a
GNCC style dead engine start, which caused problems
for some but was an advantage for others like
                                GBC ATVRiders.com’s Jarrod McClure, who
grabbed the ATVRiders.com Holeshot award. McClure
led for over one lap, but fell back after battling
back and forth with Jeremie Warnia. McClure would
eventually end up with a four lap deficit due
to breaking a tie rod out on the track.

Armor's #110 Jarrod McClure once again experienced
bad luck when he snapped a tie-rod, which
sent him down 4 laps before returning to
the race | Jeremie Warnia took over the lead from McClure
in lap two and never looked back. Warnia was one
of the few riders who was consistently taking
the water crossing jump, which shaved about seven
seconds off of his lap times and allowed him to
keep his lead even when Josh Frederick began to
close the gap in the final laps of the race. Warnia
finished several seconds head of Frederick to
claim his first Pro WORCS win. |
