WORCS
Racing headed to Washougal MX in the beatiful
North West along the Columbia River Gorge,
which seperates the states of Washington
& Oregon. Washougal is on the north
side of the gorge in Washington State, and
just to its north of the track is the famous
Mount St Helens volcano, which erupted over
30 years ago in 1980. 2011

For the first time since 2006, the WORCS series
headed to the scenic hills of SW Washington State
where the nationally acclaimed facility of Washougal
played host to the weekend’s events.

Washougal
MX is one of the finest motocross tracks
in the nation, which is normally reserved
just for motorcycles, but the WORCS ATV
racers were treated to racing on the entire
motocross track along with several miles
of the woods & fields that surround
the track on the hillside |
The weather was sunny and warm with temps soaring
into the upper 90’s, and despite Washington’s
rainy reputation, and track was dry and dusty
in sections, which prompted most of the field
sections removed during the pro main due to dust
concerns.

Motoworks'
Josh Frederick grabbed his first Pro Holeshot
of the season |
Can-Am/Motoworks’ Josh Frederick, who is
more accustomed to desert style racing and not
necessarily known for his holeshot abilities,
surprised everyone as he flew off the line, and
grabbed the Pro holeshot. Frederick, however would
not hold his lead and fell back early in the first
lap in the motocross section of the track when
Beau Baron and Jeremie Warnia got by. Frederick,
who is known for his come-from-behind wins was
not too concerned and began to pace himself.
Frederick rode in the number three spot until
the half-way point of the race and was pressuring
teammate Jeremie Warnia, who was in second until
Baron pitted for fuel, which allowed the pair
to take over the top two spots. After an intense
battle between the two Can-Am riders, Frederick
was able to make the pass and take over the lead.

extend his lead to nearly a minute before
he pitted for fuel |
