WORCS Racing - Round
8 - Pro ATV Race Report
Maxxis' / H&M Motorsports Beau Baron Wins 2012 WORCS Pro ATV Championship
Taft, CA -A high speed track with
deep sand holes and square edges greeted the racers
at the WORCS season finale at Honolulu Hills in
Taft, Ca. Aside from rough terrain the racers had
to deal with unusually hot temperatures. The only
break for the racers was the race started early,
at 10:30AM, and it was only in the mid 80’s
when the green flag dropped. The early start was
due to the WORCS award banquet being held directly
after the race at 4 pm.

Maxxis / H&M Motorsports' Beau
Baron Secures the 2012 WORCS Pro ATV Championship
with a Win at the final round & David
Haagsma claimed the 3rd spot for the year
with a 2nd place finish at Honolulu Hills |
When the pros came off the gate Beau Baron grabbed
the holeshot closely followed by Dustin Nelson and
Josh Frederick. Baron led the season’s last
race from start to finish. Baron seemed a little
late off the gate, but used his Sparks motor to
get passed Yamaha/Golden West Cycle’s Nelson
and Motoworks/Can-Am’s Frederick to claim
the ATVriders.com Holeshot Award.

out Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson to grab
the ATVriders.com Holeshot Award |
H&M Motorsports / Maxxis Tire’s David
Haagsma started to gain on Baron when Baron pitted,
but Baron was able to regain his breathing room
when Haagsma pitted. His stellar race win secured
his second ATV Pro Championship. This was the
fifth win of the season and the conditions favored
Baron’s riding style and the California
rider was able to take the win and the championship
by 25.99 seconds.

“This championship was super important!
You never know when your next championship may
be. I had one in 2009 and then set myself up again
and had a mechanical. I crossed my fingers (for
this one) because I’ve had it ripped out
of my hands before. I’m happy, but never
satisfied so I’ll be pushing for it again”
quoted Baron.
Baron not only won the Championship in the Pro
class for his new H&M Motosports/Maxxis Tires
race team but also piloted his Polaris Razor XP
900 to third overall in the SxS Production 1000
class.

Beau
Baron temporarily took over the race lead,
but he his rear wheel studs broke off, which
left him with a missing wheel, and just
like Anderson, Baron wasn’t about
to give up without a fight, so he pressed
on dragging his rear hub around the track,
but he wasn’t able to continue since
he couldn’t climb the hills and Ryan
Piplic made the pass to take over the lead. |
“The SxS was a big project that I did myself.
I had help from Sparks with the motor but I had
to prep it for each race. I really want the SxS
Championship next year as well” stated Baron
