::Continued::

In the Pro-am class, JRi’s David Flores beat the heat and took the top spot on the pro-am podium. Flores was in second off the start behind Mike Sloan. Flores stayed close and in the third lap, Sloan had a mechanical failure and had to pull off. Sloan’s misfortune allowed Flores to take the lead. Once out front, Flores pulled a one minute lead over his competition and took the Pro-am win.

“I felt really good out there even though it was really hot. I was behind Mike Sloan off the start and it was really dusty and no one really knew where to go because it was misrouted. I just kept going and tried to stay focused so I could get to the finish line and I was really happy that I got there first,” said Flores.

Ryan Waldo claimed his fourth Pro-am podium finish of the season after a last place start, but he didn’t give up and despite losing a header pipe, and claimed a second place finish.

“I wasn’t going to let a header pipe stop me from getting on the podium. I really have to thank all my sponsors for all their help today,” said Waldo.

Matt Hancock charged his way to the number three spot on the Pro-am podium. Hancock was in fourth early in the race and set in a fast and steady pace.

Pro Motorsport's Matt Hancock earned his sixth podium finish of the season at Glen Helen, which has Hancock holding down a 12 point lead over Mike Sloan in the WORCS Pro-Am Championship points race heading to season finale

“The heat was pretty rough out there, but I just tried to pace myself and I ended up third at the finish line, so it all worked out pretty good. Since Mike Sloan took a DNF, I think I took over the points lead, so I am hoping to keep that going to Primm and bring home a championship,” said Hancock.

The final round of the 2014 WORCS series will head to Buffalo Bill’s in Primm, NV on October 17-19th where hopefully only the competition will be hot and racers will get a break as they battle for their championship points.
