2015 Honda Foreman Rubicon Review
2015 Honda Foreman Rubicon Review
::Continued::

The 2015 Honda Foreman Rubicon is available in two transmission options, semi-automatic manual and automatic DCT. The Honda Foreman Rubicon with semi manual transmission is the cheaper of the two and gives you complete control of the gears. A single shift lever is located in the left footwell and the gear can be selected without pulling in a clutch like a traditional manual transmission. If you are an experienced rider or like to ride aggressively, this transmission is well suited for you.  We found it much easier to hold a gear and shift faster through the gears than with the automatic transmission.

The Honda Rubicon is available in two transmissions, but if you plan on riding aggressively the semi-automatic manual transmission maybe ideal for you

Borrowed from the 2014 Honda Rancher 420, the 2014 Honda Foreman Rubicon is also available with an Automatic Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT). The DCT transmission is unique to Honda and it allows the rider to choose between completely automatic transmission and electronic shifting (ES).

The 2015 Honda Foreman Rubicon is now available with Automatic DCT Transmission that features both a fully automatic mode and electronic shift mode as well as a high low gear selector located on the left hand side of the machine

We found the DCT ideal for those who are just getting into the sport and don’t necessary want to worry about shifting.  By having the option of electronic power shifting, it gives the rider another option if they do want to shift through the gears. This system is very similar to ones found within the automotive industry as many cars now come with a “slap stick” option.

The Honda Rubicon 4x4 DCT can switch from fully automatic to electronic shift much like a "slap stick" option in an automobile

The Automatic DCT has its advantages, but with a racing background we actually felt more comfortable when using the semi-manual transmission because it gives you the ultimate control of the gears and the machine. However, when we just wanted to cruise down the trail the automatic DCT was a nice luxury option to have to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Rock House Trail at the Hatfield McCory Trail System.
