We hit a top speed of just about 70 mph down
the sand wash section of the BITD course, and
once you shift the RZR XP 4 900 in low, it hits
the rev limiter at 35mph. We didn’t need
to drive in low during our ride, but we still
tested it out, and it provided plenty of extra
torque for climbing over rocks or steep hill
climbs, but otherwise the XP 4 900 has plenty
of power in high to conquer most obstacles on
the trail.

Despite
the extra weight of the 4 Seater, Polaris
RZR XP 4 900 was very responsive &
we had no issues carving the sand dunes
with a full load of passengers
|
As with all Polaris RZR SxS models, the XP 4 900
has a toggle switch for engaging 2wd / 4wd conveniently
located on the dash, and with the extended wheel
base of the 4 seater and extra weight, we found
that it handles best when driven in 4wd especially
when fully loaded because the front wheels help
increase the steering response, but if you want
to break the rear end loose for some aggressive
riding, the Polaris RZR XP 4 900 is a blast to
drive in 2wd as well.

The
steering on the Polaris RZR XP 4 900
is very responsive, & we had no
issues breaking the rear end loose going
around some high speed corners in 2wd
drive

As for suspension, The Polaris RZR XP 4 900 comes
with Walker Evans shocks all around with large
body dual rate spring shocks in the rear, which
feature 14” of suspension travel. The shocks
are also compression adjustable.
We didn’t make any changes to the suspension
on our test drive, but we felt the suspension
performed well over the rough terrain, and we
never bottomed out the suspension even when jumping
it over one of the sand dunes with four adult
passengers.

The
Walker Evans Racing Suspension provided
a smooth ride on the trail & it
is also stiff enough to launch the RZR
XP 4 900 fully loaded

The extended wheelbase of the RZR XP 4 900 improves
handling in the whoops, making this SxS ideal
for desert racing and driving. We felt that the
handling of the four-seater was even better than
the two-seater XP through the whooped out sections
due to its longer wheel base of 107.4”.
Optimized mass placement, with a lower center
of gravity, and a wide 64” stance, makes
the RZR XP 4 900 feel incredibly stable. Despite
the longer wheel base, the turning radius of the
RZR XP 4 900 was much tighter than expected as
we were able to turn around on the trails in most
spots without making 3 point turns, which was
an added plus.

“There
was a very little body roll. No matter
how aggressively we rode, it still felt
stable,” stated Baron |
