Casto Canyon ATV Adventure Ride - Bryce, Utah

Casto Canyon ATV Adventure Ride - Bryce, Utah
::Continued::

Once we reached the tree line our guide Lee Roberts and Harlen Foley stopped suddenly, their gaze set on the treetops. There was a Bald Eagle that had made a nest atop a large Ponderosa Pine Tree and swooped down from it right as they passed.

There is approximately 2,700 miles of designated motorized travel routes in the Dixie National Forest in Bryce, Utah

I love going on these adventure rides because there is so much to see whether it be wildlife, or beautiful landscapes. At that moment, I knew this trip would be one to remember and it was only getting started!

There are several ATV riding trails around the area including the Fremont trail, Paunsaugunt trail, and the Paiute Trail System. Paiute is over 900 miles of OHV trails in Utah. Despite all the trails to choose from we only had time for 80 miles of travel that day, most of it being on the Fremont Trail System.

The BLM & the U.S. Forest Service do a great job of maintaining the off-road trail system & they keep it marked well with trail signs

As we entered the woods you could tell that the BLM does a great job of keeping the OHV trails in great shape. There were no hanging limbs or brush across the trail anywhere. The wooded trails are a nice mix of hard pack and rocky terrain, which keeps things thrilling.

After a couple of miles riding in the woods we entered another pasture. The trail ran parallel to a marshy area were I pictured wild game would come to drink during the rainy season. There were many long straightaways where I took the opportunity to open up the throttle. Although we were riding on tamed down Arctic Cat 500 two-up Utility ATVs it was still entertaining speeding down these open trails.

There are many elevation changes on the Freemont Trail system. Over looks like this one can be found very easy & are awe inspiring

Further on down the trail the ground gradually elevated and eventually we found our-selves on top of a hillside over looking the valley below. This area has a rich history of geological changes, which created different color rocks and formations. From one direction I could see rolling pastures and wooded areas that seemed to frame the cattle pastures. In another direction, scattered throughout the wooded valley below, I saw small hoodoos and rock formations of all colors jetting upward from the ground.
