Bryce Canyon, UT (8/15/2013) -
We recently finished up an epic ride near Bryce
Canyon National Park with Shawn and Glen Hess of
Hess Motorsports. There we stayed at Ruby’s
Best Western Inn and experienced an awesome ride
filled with wildlife and beautiful scenery.
Despite riding a whole day, we only got a chance
to check out only a part of what the ATV trails
have to offer around Bryce Canyon National Park.
For this trip we headed back west to ride on the other side of highway and check out a hidden gem near Bryce Canyon called Casto Canyon. Our trip started similar to our last time out to Bryce, Utah. We flew into Las Vegas and drove northeast 270 miles towards Bryce Canyon. We once again made a stop or two while driving through Zion National Park to take in the breath taking scenery and shoot some photos of nature.

After doing several impromptu landscape and wildlife
photoshoots it was time to hit the road and finish
our drive to Bryce Canyon National Park.
Once we arrived in Bryce, Utah, Ruby’s Best Western Inn put us up in a nice room that we could call home for the next two days. This was my first time staying at Ruby’s Best Western Inn and I was impressed with how many rooms they actually have. I have heard they are booked full almost year around, but we played our cards right and luckily they had a room available for this ATV Adventure Ride.

Originally
established in 1919, Ruby's Inn features
many rooms & accommodations including
a restaurant, indoor pool, & ATV &
SxS / UTV rentals |
Lee Roberts joined us again as our trail guide
for this trip. On our last riding trip in Bryce,
UT Lee took us to the eastern rim of Bryce Canyon
where we explored the Tropic Reservoir that gave
great views of the lake, Badger Creek Trail, and
Proctor Canyon Trail that ascended about 9,100
feet and then descended deep down into the canyon.
|
|
On our ATV adventure ride we would ascend to just over 9,000 feet above sea level |
We started our day at Ruby’s Best Western Inn ATV rental and began our ride down the wooded trails behind the Inn that connects to the Fremont Trail system. After several miles of winding trails that zigzagged through many trees, we reached a gravel rode that we followed for quite sometime until we hit Highway 12.
|
The Freemont / Casto Canyon Trail system is just a small part of the trails available in the Dixie National Forrest |
After taking a short break we crossed over the highway and made our way through the open cattle pastures onto the Dixie National Forest land. Although we saw several cows there were also many Pronghorn grazing in the distance as we rode past.
|
Pronghorns are just one of the many animal specials that call Bryce, Utah home. Other species include the Bald Eagle, Rocky Mountain Elk, Mule Deer & many more |
