Death Valley National Park Off-Road Jeep Adventure Drive
Eureka Sand Dunes, Race Track, Bad Water, Zabriski's Pointe

Death Valley, CA - ATVriders.com recently had the rare opportunity to explore the back roads of the largest National Park in the United States decorously named Death Valley because of it harsh weather conditions and rugged terrain but yet is home to some of the most beautiful landmarks in the United States including Eureka Sand Dunes, Race Track, Bad Water, and Zabromski's Pointe just to name a few!

Although the national park service in Death Valley does not allow any ATV or SxS / UTVs, they do however allow Jeeps, which is a very popular attraction in Death Valley. We figured this Adventure Drive would be the perfect opportunity to see how the SxS / UTVs of today compare to Jeeps. We also wanted to see what it was like to drive in the lowest elevation (-200ft below sea level) & compare it to another SxS / UTV adventure we are planning to do at the highest elevation in the US.

This particular adventure drive would begin just over a year ago when we first met Richard Farabee of Farabee Jeep Rentals, while visiting Death Valley do some nature photography between races.

Richard Farabee & Farabee Jeep Rentals have been in business for 25 years renting Jeeps to destination seekers in Death Vally, Moab, Arizona, & Colorado

Farabee Jeep Rentals have been in business for twenty-five years and have locations in Death Valley, Moab, UT, Arizona, and Colorado. Farabee Jeep Rentals have a fleet of 15 Jeeps Wranglers in Death Valley that including both two and four door.

“We have been in business for twenty-five years, and we have been renting Jeeps in Death Valley for three years. There are a lot of photographers and people who want to get into the back country that want to see special views of overlooks, sunrises, sunsets, specifically the Race Track and Titus Canyon are two of the most popular trails. There are many destinations that you can visit in Death Valley including Cotton Wood Canyon, Warm Springs North, the Race Track, and the Eureka Dunes - people like to climb to the top of the dunes.

Most of our guests take our Jeeps for a day or two. We have people take them up to a week or ten days – especially Europeans because they have traveled so far and they really want to spend some time while they are here. Each Jeep includes an ice chest, ice, water, the Jeeps go out with a full of gas, and then we have Spot Satellite GPS Units just in case someone needs us they can push a button and it gives us their location in case of an emergency.” Stated Farabee Jeep Rental Owner Richard Farabee

Farabee Jeep Rentals equip each Jeep with 33 inch 8-10 ply tires to help reduce punctures & flat tires along the way

Farabee has equipped each Jeep in his fleet with numerous modifications to make for a better drive for both novice and inexperienced off-road drivers. Each Jeep features a lift kit for better ground clearance and larger heavy-duty tires to help reduce the probability of a flat.

“All but one Jeep at Death Valley has a 2 inch lift and most have 33 inch tires. So we run an oversized heavy duty tire - most of them are 8 to 10ply tire, so that way when you’re in the back country you have about as strong of a tire as we can put on there for safety and enough clearance so you may get into an area with higher rocks, we have plenty of clearance to take care of that” Explained Farabee about his modified rental Jeeps

The backcountry dirt roads in Death Vally, CA offer many breath taking views!

Although the roads can be driven with a normal SUV or Truck with 4WD, we recommend you have heavy-duty tires or really pay attention to which lines you pick. There are many sharp rocks that line the dirt roads that can easily puncture a tire, as we saw several stock SUVs with flat tires along the way.
