White Brothers Exhaust
Review of the White Brother slip-on silencer for the 400EX

(written by 400exRacerX)

I had ordered my White Brothers E-series exhaust from Dennis Kirk a couple of days ago and it came to me in a well packaged box and was unharmed. I couldn’t wait to slap the pipe on and ride. So I sat in my garage and hooked it up as fast as possible.

White Brothers Exhaust vs Stock

It was fairly easy to install. So I rolled my 400ex out of the garage and fired it up. Wow the sound difference! It sounded great, I love that deep loud roar of a 4-stroke engine. So I quick threw my helmet on and went around the neighborhood, I had noticed some power gains but not what I was hoping for, I also had noticed I was backfiring. So I brought it back into the garage and immediately assumed that I was running too lean. I was right.

I went out to my local dealership and purchased a 158 main jet and a 42 pilot jet. When I got home I ripped my bike apart and took the carb off. I quickly unscrewed the 4 screws holding the float bowl on to the carb and took the float bowl off, I unscrewed the stock main jet and screwed the new one in, then repeated the same step for the pilot jet. Then I reassembled everything and took it out for a ride it worked great! My plug was the most perfect looking brown.

Now that my 400 was re-jetted and had the pipe on it I had to take it on a long ride to give it a real power test. Wow there was a big difference when I re-jetted the carb. You can run the e-series with stock jetting but you may have to take some discs off of the pipe. I would recommend this pipe to any power hungry rider.
