Chad Wienen was the top qualifier during
the timed practice sessions |
This year, there were only 10 seated positions
in the pro class, so any riders who had not
earned a seated position had to compete for
the final ten starting gate spots. With 22 pro
riders in attendance, there was plenty of excitement
during the three qualifying timed practice sessions.
Suzuki’s Chad Wienen recorded the fastest
lap time during all three qualifiers with a
time of 02:17:057 in the final qualifier followed
by Dustin Wimmer and Josh Creamer, and the top
6 qualifiers advanced while the remaining six
raced for the final four sports Sunday Morning.

Nate Morello - 2007 NEATV- MX Pro ATV
Champion |
2007 New England ATV Motocross Series Champion
and AMA ATV Pro Rookie, Nate Morello grabbed
the Holeshot and lead the race from the start
to finish, but within a few hundred feet of
the finish line his front shock bolt fell out
over the last tabletop, so Morello attempt to
wheelie to the finish line, but his front end
stuck into the finish line mound when he let
off the gas, which resulted in John Ragon clipping
Morello as he crossed the finish line in a sprint
with Hunter Miller and Russ Shumaker hot on
his heels. In fact, the impact sent Morello’s
Honda cart-wheeling. Luckily, Morello was not
injured and his quad was not damaged. Unfortunately
for Beau Baron & Chris Tait, they didn’t
make the top twenty, so they raced in the Yamaha
/ ITP Quadcross on Sunday

Nate
Morello's Honda came to a stop at the
finish line, which caught John Ragon
off guard as he held off Hunter Miller
& Russell Shumaker, and Ragon clipped
Morello's rear tire, which sent him
flipping. Fortunately, no one was injured
and all four racers advanced to the
big show

Honda's
Joe Byrd grabbed the Holeshot in Moto
One by edging out Kawasaki's Keith Little |
With the field narrowed down to the fastest
20 Pro ATV Racers, the first moto got underway
at Noon. As the racers left the line, Joe
Byrd and Keith “The Holeshot King”
Little were side by side going into the first
corner followed closely by Dustin Wimmer,
Josh Creamer and John Natalie. Byrd managed
to edge out Little for Holeshot and took over
the early lead, but ended up getting a flat
rear tire early in the race allowing Wimmer
to get past. Once Wimmer was in the lead,
he checked out and never looked back.
Meanwhile, Chad Wienen was working his way through
the pack and soon caught up to and passed Byrd
and Natalie. Soon after, Weinen caught up with
Josh Creamer who had worked his way up to 2nd
place and they began to battle for position,
but Creamer couldn’t hold off Wienen and
settled into 3rd.

Joe Byrd slipped back to 6th place with
a flat rear tire while #13 John Natalie
Jr & Doug Gust battled for the 4th
spot |
Kawasaki's
#9 Josh Creamer was on fire as held
onto the 3rd spot behind Suzuki's #44
Chad Wienen |
As the top three places were pretty much
secured, Gust, Natalie, and Byrd were fighting
for position, but Byrd was unable to keep
it up due to his flat tire and dropped back.
Gust began to pressure Natalie, but was unable
make the pass before the checkered flag.

Bull / Suzuki's Dustin Wimmer dominated
the 1st Moto on his MSR / Pro Taper
/ Yoshimura LT-R450 |
There were also several battles going on
mid pack as well. Rocco Arno and Harold Goodman
battled for the eighth spot as Goodman chased
after Arno’s shadow for nearly the entire
Moto, but was unable to make the pass. One
of the most spectacular crashes of the day
was when Russell Shumaker ran on one of the
big hills, and Shumaker bailed at the last
minute and his quad cart wheeled all the way
to the bottom. Luckily there was little damage
sustained to his Kawasaki and his crew was
able to fix what little damage was done and
have it ready by moto number two.
