San
Bernardino, CA (3/12/2008)
– The AMA ATV Motocross Nationals kicked off
the season at Glen Helen Raceway this weekend. The
Pro-only event was held in conjunction with the
season opener of the Yamaha / ITP Quadcross. The
combined season opener boasted an awesome rider
and spectator turnout and saw an ominous trackside
presence by Can-Am and big wins from team Suzuki
along with a podium first for Kawasaki.

Yamaha
has increased it support for Pat Brown and
new teammate Thomas Brown for 2008 |
This year the support from the manufacturers
has obviously grown as the pro pits were lined
with big rigs from Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Yamaha.
Can-Am definitely made it known that they are
taking their race efforts very seriously with
four big rigs lining the pits in support of their
teams.
This year, returning Pro ATV champ, Joe Byrd is once
again racing with the support of Honda, but it remains
an independent effort for Byrd with his own crew
and rig. Also, Honda has stepped up the support
for Harold Goodman for 2008, and Goodman has a busy
racing schedule planned for 2008 with him racing
the AMA ATV Motocross, Extreme Dirt Track, BITD,
and SCORE Series, so he won’t be spending
much time home in Michigan. Also, many privateer
racers have made the switch to Honda for 2008 with
John Ragon, Jason Dunkelberger, Rocco Arno, and
Pro rookie Nate Marello all racing Honda TRX 450Rs.
