Henderson, NV (12/7/2014) - Jagged X Racing’s #1919 Polaris RZR of Brandon Schueler and Blake Van De Loo claimed their second consecutive Pro SxS championship at the 2014 Henderson 250, the final round of the Best in the Desert (BITD) series, with a second place finish in his class, while Holz/Coastal Racing’s Scott Kiger and Mark Holz ended their season with a class win.

For the first time ever, the SXS classes ran with the truck classes at the BITD Henderson 250. Normally the SXS classes would run with the ATV classes on a shortened course, but due to the recent and substantial increase in performance in most SXS vehicles, it was decided they would be best suited to run with the trucks. The start time for the SXS’s was at 9:00 am and they had no trouble keeping up with the competition.

A little rain had fallen the night before and caused some fog early in the morning, but when it was time for the SXS classes to go at 9am, the fog had lifted and conditions were well. Spirits were high and everyone in the SXS classes was excited to be running the longer course with the truck classes. The course for the SXS race was a 79 mile loop, with the racers running two laps.

The team of Scott Kiger and Mark Holz started on the seventh row of the grand prix style start and quickly began working their way to the front. In the first lap, the team caught up to the leader, Brandon Schueler, in the first lap as the pair pulled away from the field.

“We caught the Jagged X team (1919) and Craig Scanlon (1931) on the first lap and took over the lead. We went back and forth a little bit and we both knew that we were ahead of them on time and they tried to pressure us into making a mistake, but we ended up pulling away. If we would have been able to get another car in between us and Brandon, we would have had the championship, but that didn’t happen. We still took the win and we had a great race,” said Scott Kiger.

“Everything went really well for us out there. We didn’t have any issues and being able to run the full course was great. It was a lot better than running the shorter course,” added Mark Holz.
