NE EDT Racing Freedom Speedway Race Report
::Continued::

Anchor Racing / TRE / Houghton Construction’s Nate Dawydko took the red-flag restart holeshot after Matt Schaeffer took the initial holeshot during the first run. A crash caused the restart and allowed Dawydko to get a retry in which he came out as the victor. With the holeshot in his grasps for the second time, Dawydko was able to get out front early and put some distance between himself and the rest of the field. He was able to stay on pace and pull away from the pack and lead every lap and take the win. This win was his third first-place finish on the season and solidified his first overall championship position with five total podiums and one hundred and seventy two points total.

Matt Schaeffer NE EDT Racing

Matt Schaeffer finished second after claiming the first holeshot before the restart

Schaeffer Construction / Hoosier Tire / Polaris’ Matt Schaeffer was the initial holeshot winner before the restart and was once again right at the forefront of the pack sitting in second place coming into the first corner with a solid start. Schaeffer too, kept up his speed and fended off charges from the rest of the pack to remain solidly in his place and crossed the line in the second spot to earn himself his first podium of the season in the Pro-Lites class.

Element44 / Richard Childress Racing / JT Racing’s Bryan Robertson got off to a good start coming out of the holeshot around fifth place. Robertson found himself behind Johnny Mac who was holding down the third place spot but was able to slide past him and into the position as Mac began to have problems. With Robertson into his new-found position, he was able to ride his own race and end up on the podium after remaining mistake-free for the remainder of the race. With this third place finish and one other podium finish on the season, in first place, Robertson ended his season in fourth place overall in the championship points battle.

In the Super Mini class it was Torchio Racing / Hoosier / Atlas’ Melissa Torchio taking the win, her first-ever of the Super Mini class. Phillips Pool Service / Backwoods Brew’s Kenny Phillips was able to grab another podium for himself giving him two third place finishes on the season and coming away with a sixth place overall championship finish.

Tyler King NE EDT Racing

Tyler King claimed an impressive six podium finishes in the 2015 NE EDT Racing Season, which was enough for him to earn the Super Mini class Championship

However, the story of the night was that of JB Racing / King Racing / Elka’s Tyler King taking away second place finish, his sixth podium of the season, and closing the cover on his championship points run in the Super Mini class. King ended the year with four first-place finishes and two second-place finishes resulting in a total score of one hundred and eighty three points, forty six points ahead of second place runner-up Dylan Dworak. Dworak has been King’s biggest battle this entire season and will surely be moving through the ranks with King in future seasons.
