After
Beau Baron's longest 2 hours of racing,
he crossed the finish line with the championship |
As Baron charged through traffic, Cafro was keeping
close tabs on what position Baron was in and showed
that strategy can be just as important as skill
when it comes to racing.
“Just before the last lap, we figured that
Beau was up to eleventh place, but we wanted to
make sure, so we pulled our other rider, Josh
Row, who was in fourth, off the track in the final
lap, to make sure that Beau would be in a good
position. It wasn’t going to effect Josh’s
points standings anyway, so we made the sacrifice
in order for Beau to secure the championship,”
stated Cafro.

After
the overall points were officially finalized
O'Neal's Beau Baron was announced the 2009
WORCS Pro ATV Champion (above left), and
as part of a bet with MCR's Team Manager,
Mike Cafro, if Beau won the championship,
he would get him a Honda CRF450, and at
the awards banquet, Cafro presented Beau
with a toy replica CRF450 before WORCS Promoter,
Sean Reddish, walked out with the real deal,
which left Beau speechless & full of
emotion, which concluded an incredible season
for this 2nd year Pro |

Motoworks
/ Can-Am's Josh Frederick secured his 1st
win since recovery from his leg injury &
just missed his 3rd straight championship
by 2 points. |
Beau Baron may have taken the championship, but
Josh Frederick was on fire as he took an early lead
by lap three and began to check out on the competition.
By the midway point Frederick started to get into
some lap traffic, but it still didn’t slow
him down as he lapped everyone in the Pro class
up to fourth place. “It was rough out there,
but it was good to end the season on top,”
said Frederick, who would end his season in second
place of the Pro ATV points championship. “During
our off time I’m going to be doing a lot of
training. My endurance still isn’t quite what
it used to be before I crashed, so I will be working
on that during the break,” said Frederick
adamantly.

Dustin
Nelson was back on the Podium to finish
out the 2009 WORCS Season |
Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson had a good race
as well. Nelson was off to a great start and was
running in a solid third behind Chad Wienen and
Jeremie Warnia.
Nelson didn’t have to wait long before
getting the opportunity to better his position
as both Warnia and Wienen would crash in the first
few laps, allowing Nelson to take over second
place, where he would stay all the way to the
checkered flag. Nelson’s second place finish
put him in a solid 4th in the season’s end
points.
