Race Report
::Continued::
Mystik Lubricant’s Mickey Thomas regained form
in this race after two disappointing finishes
coming into the weekend. After nearly crashing
at the start of the race, Thomas drove through
the field to finish third. He moves back into
the championship lead, but with just eight points
separating the top four in points, it will definitely
come down the end.

bad luck at Sand Hollow to finish 3rd at
WORCS Round 8 |
“I threw it into the first turn, and I got a
little overzealous,” explained Thomas of the start.
“It went over quick and I just barely saved it.
I had to pass six other guys to get to third.
We had clutch issues all day so to get on the
podium is good.”
Interestingly, Thomas came into this season planning
to just run a few WORCS races along with a full
assault on the Lucas Oil Pro Lite Truck Series.
Plans, however, changed early on when he nabbed
three consecutive podiums in the first three rounds.

Motorsports' Mickey Thomas regained the
points lead with his podium finish at Iron
Mine WORCS |
“It’s pretty awesome,” said Thomas. “I started
finishing well, so we’re going to finish it out
and hopefully get a points championship. We were
losing it in the last few rounds; we had some
bad luck. We had rollovers and clutch problems
that caused a DNF that put us out of the points.
But we’re right back there. We’ll keep pushing
hard, getting our car better and we’ll get on
that box again this year.”
South Point Casino’s RJ Anderson thought he had
a flat tire midway through the event, causing
him to come into the pits. The tire was fine,
so he went back out and drove hard to finish fourth.

Racing's RJ Anderson finished fourth |
“It’s kind of hard to gauge how close you are
the guys up front, so I put up some fast laps
early on and then I fell into a groove,” said
Anderson. “I brought home a fourth place which
is nice. I’ll be there at the next race Glen Helen.
That’s my home track.”
Owen Motorsports / Addict Racing’s Chris Mills’
fifth-place finish was his best ever in WORCS
competition. His previous best was 10th. Interestingly,
Mills is based out of North Carolina and travels
to every one of the West Coast based WORCS races.

Racing's Chris Mills Takes first WORCS Pro
UTV Top Five finish of the season, which
was a great way for the North Carolina racer
to head into the summer break |
“I’ve not had a clean race all season so I was
hoping for a race where we didn’t have any problems
with the car; a race where we had nothing to apologize
for,” said Mills. “That’s what we had today and
we got a top five. Carrying the momentum will
be nice through the summer break. The support
we get from all of the people in the WORCS family
is great, and we couldn’t do it without Joe at
Owen Motorsports and Jim and Addict Racing. We
fly out for every race. We come out for seven
days for a 45-minute race. It doesn’t get any
better than that.”
