The MXU 500I also features on the fly, push
button, 4WD and differential lock. The diff
lock is easy to engage in either 2WD or 4WD,
but when you hit the switch for the diff lock
in 2WD, the diff lock system will automatically
kick over to 4WD mode. Although the differential
lock switch was easy to use, it was a little
difficult to distinguish whether it was engaged
or not. Instead of the switch saying “on”
or “off”, there is a single dot
indicator that can be a little difficult to
interpret.

The
MXU500 I features an on-the-fly push button
4WD & differential lock that allows
the rider to switch quickly from 2WD to
4WD. The 4WD on the KYMCO MXU 500I came
in handy in the deep mud holes at Carolina
Adventure Park in South Carolina

Another feature of the differential lock is
that unlike most competitors’ models of
sport utility quads, the diff lock has no speed
governor, although it is highly recommended
that the diff lock is only used in slower speed
applications because it dramatically increases
the steering effort.

The
front & rear independent suspension
works at absorbing obstacles or small
jumps |
The front and rear independent suspension worked
well with 7.5 inches of travel, and had plenty
of ground clearance at 9.5 inches. The dual rate
5-way adjustable shocks were nice and plush, but
got a little bit bouncy at higher speeds. The
front and rear hydraulic disc brakes provided
plenty of stopping power, even for a larger machine.
The ergonomics of the MXU 500I were very good
and the plush seat was incredibly comfortable.
The foot boards were good and had nice drainage,
but the pegs were a little close to the boards
and could easily get clogged with mud. The large
fenders offered excellent protection from the
elements and we felt we could ride this machine
for long periods without feeling cramped or
tired.

The
ergonomics on the MXU 500I 4x4 IRS Utility
ATV are very comfortable & it is very
easy to move around side to side on its
large plush seat

The
floor boards on the MXU 500I are large
& have good drainage, but we felt
the foot pegs needed to be taller so that
mud would not get clogged up in the pegs |
