Close Encounter Whitetail Outfitters Deer Hunt

Close Encounters Whitetail Outfitters Deer Hunt
CEWO Deer Hunting with Can-Am Commander & Josh Creamer

Utica, OH (2/28/2014) - Close Encounters Whitetail Outfitters, located in Utica, Ohio, offers a great opportunity to claim a trophy whitetail of your own, and ATVriders.com’s Harlen Foley and Pro Motocross Racer, Josh Creamer, were invited out for a Whitetail deer bow hunt and late muzzle loader season hunt this year, and we brought along the Can-am Commander XT 1000 for the hunt as well, which proved to be a valuable tool during our whitetail deer hunt at CEWO.

Situated on 2,000 acres of privately owned lease property, Close Encounters Whitetail Outfitters is located within the first quality deer management cooperative in the state of Ohio. The facility offers hunters all the amenities they would ever need and more. With a large 3,500 square foot cabin to stay in, the property offers a great place to hang out with fellow hunters and talk about the day’s activities. Focusing primarily on mature bucks that score over 140”, many large trophy whitetails have been harvested from the property over the years.

On our bow hunt at Close Encounters Whitetails Outfitters in November, the hunting conditions were less than ideal with warm and rainy weather all week, so Eric Ashcraft invited us back out for another shot at deer hunting in January for the late muzzle loader season, which was the first time CEWO was offering a late Muzzle loader hunt.

Unfortunately for us, weather had a large impact on our Muzzle loader hunt as well with the coldest temperatures in over a decade that settled into Ohio with morning lows dipping down to near 15 below zero paired with a wind chill of over 30 below zero, which made for frigid hunting, but we weren’t going to let the weather keep us from deer hunting.

Team BCS/Can-AM racer, Josh Creamer, came prepared for the brutally cold temperatures with a Cabela’s full body Kevlar suit.  While this was the first time for Josh Creamer to go on a Muzzle loader hunt, he has been rifle hunting since 5 years old, and he has traveled the world hunting big game with his father.

Over the past two decades, Creamer has harvested elephant, lions, zebras, water buffalo, bears, sheep, caribou, deer, and many, many more animals that many of us have never heard of before, so we knew that he had to skills to harvest a deer if the opportunity presented itself.
